Read post

It's been a few months since I've done a "reads" post but what can I say....life just gets busy sometimes. I also started school again so these posts are probably going to be become even more sparse because I am going to be reading boring text books until Christmas time (crying).

I really pushed myself to read this book because the movie came out this past weekend. the book was very good, it was a tough read in the sense that some of the stories about Jeannette Wall's life were sort of unbelievable because of how sad they were. Reading this book definitely made me very grateful for my sweet family. I think the biggest thing I took away from this book, is that alcohol messes up lives and not just the life of the alcoholic but all of the people surrounded by the alcoholism.

Fabian and I finally went on a date night too! It was just the two of us...no sisters or friends or parents tagging along for the fun. We went to Olive Garden for dinner which was super yummy but it's always hard to stay on track with healthy eating when you are surrounded by pasta and cheese! I did my best though. We went to see The Glass Castle in the theaters and I really liked it! I mean it's hard for me to not like something if it includes Woody Harrelson. It was definitely different from the book but not in a bad way...just  little more choppy.

Overall I think the book is worth a read and the movie is worth the watch at home. Rent it on Redbox or on demand, don't spend $40 to see it in the cinema!

March Reads

Read post
I read a total of 1 book in the month of March, it's a little below my goal of 2 books a month for 2017...but hey, life is busy! I don't really have much to say about the book I read, it was a little bit different and a very interesting read, I don't know whether to be disturbed by it or facsinated by it. It's a quick read though, because it keeps you wanting to know more. I will say, the ending was a little flat for me. Overall I think I would give this a 5 out of 10.

P.S. I read a paperback book this month...it wasn't on my iPad! I felt like I was living in ancient times ;)

I know, I know...It's March 13th and I am barely getting this post up, but I just can't wrap my head around how fast this year is going by already! But moving on to books...February was a big month for me reading wise, I completely got lost in the two main characters in the Lindsay Paige Bold as Love series. They were very very quick reads, all 5 of the books and the characters were sort of tragic but it was a good way to wind down at night and read about a couple of young lovers trying to figure out life together. I don't know if they are the types of books I would read again, but nevertheless, they brought me happiness and I couldn't wait to pick up my iPad whenever I had a spare moment to read.
I think the reason why I read all 5 books is because the first 2 books just get you hooked. Lindsay Paige did a great thing by showing young love from early teenage years, through their early 20's. It was a clever idea and who doesn't love a good love story!

Read post
One of my goals is to read more this year is to read more books. I have decided that I am going to try to read two books a month for the next year...that's 24 books in one year, I think that's a fair amount considering I work full time and want to try to have a social life as well, even though I will admit I think becoming a cat lady sounds pretty appealing sometimes! The books I am currently reading are for fun, simply books for entertainment. I have to read books for school but I am not going to count those as a part of my goal because those are required of me. Since January is over I thought I'd share what I read this month. They were both quick reads and I loved them! Last year I really put my love for reading aside and picking up a book again (actually my iPad) felt super great and rewarding! I am mostly reading books on my iPad from iBooks because it's so much more convenient. I pretty much take my iPad with me everywhere and when I don't have my iPad, I have my iPhone and therefore the book is on there too (go Apple!). One thing I discovered is that books can be pretty expensive and with me being a broke college student and all, I decided to check out the free books on iBooks and let me tell you, there are some awesome reads, I definitely recommend taking a look.

Here are my January reads:
Diary of a Fat Girl by Moira Mugweni
I loved this book, it was such an entertaining quck read, it's a young adult novel, I would definitely say a romantic novel, and the best part about it, it was free on iBooks!
P.S. There is a sequel to this book coming out this summer! (I already pre-ordered it...this one is not free)

Tell me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum
This book was my favorite of the two, it's again a young adult novel about a girl that moves to a new town and a new school and deals with all things "teenagery". It's another romantic novel but the way it was written was just amazing and the characters are so well thought out and written. I would recommend this book to everyone and I would give it a 10/10.
(I have included the link if you click on the picture, but if you have an iPad or iPhone, you can get it for free on iBooks)

Happy reading everyone!
P.S. I can already tell you February's reads have at least 3 books involved!  ;)
